Lahore: Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) has prepared a 6-year business plan aimed at identifying & resolving its financial crisis, because of which water bills will be increased in different phases, reported a news source. By increasing the water tariff, WASA intends to operate as an independent entity -without relying on subsidies issued by the federal government to run its operations.

In this regard, the business plan is to be presented by WASA Managing Director Syed Zahid Aziz in the next meeting of the governing body. The 56-page long business plan suggests that the water tariff will be increased phase-wise in the next three years. These increments will help WASA overcome its reliance on the annual subsidy of PKR 2.2 billion, and bolster its own income.
