Lahore: Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has planned to construct a mini dam and reservoir in the city, according to a news source. This will serve the dual purpose of providing clean drinking water to the city and will help in conservation of the underground water aquifer.
The report further states that the groundwater supply of the city is not enough to support the needs of the rapidly growing population over the next few decades and this will serve as an alternate for that. According to the project plan, this reservoir will be used as the feeding source for the Surface Water Treatment Plant (SWTP). The said treatment plant will be located right next to the Ravi Syphon near Ghazi Kakka and would be spread over 150 acres.
