Rawalpindi: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has decided to revise its commercial tariff in a bid to increase revenue, a news source quoted Rawalpindi Authority (RDA) Chairman Arif Abbasi.

He said that the agency will revise its commercial tariff to bring it at par with charges that are being implemented in the cantonment areas. This measure will significantly increase WASA’s revenue.
Meanwhile, the owners and developers of housing societies have been asked to pay water bills to WASA. Abbasi said such a policy was never implemented in the past.
The agency is also separately charging every commercial outlet situated in more than 400 plazas across the city. Furthermore, it is contemplating collecting separate bills from each floor of five-marla houses.

On the directives of the RDA chairman, WASA launched a drive against individuals who had obtained water connections through illegal means. WASA teams surveyed residential and commercial areas in Rawalpindi and notified the citizens to get their connections regularised.
