Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has approved a PKR 2.499 billion plan to upgrade sewerage infrastructure, install ten new tube wells, and set up new water filtration plants in the new union councils, a news source reported on August 8.

Development work on these projects will begin in October and will be completed under two phases over the course of two to three months. The work will start in nine union councils, including the 35 newly merged union councils in Rawalpindi.
More important of these union councils include: Shah Faisal Colony, Chak Jalaluddin One and Two, Chaklala, Girja, and Dhok Hafiz. As per the details, the WASA will upgrade sewerage system in Satellite Town, launch new water supply schemes in Union Councils 76-78 and install a new drainage system in Chak Jalaluddin, Mohri, Ghazni, and Girja.

In addition, the authority will also upgrade water supply lines and install additional pumps to ensure smooth water supply in several union councils. After these projects are completed, the issue of clean drinking water supply and provision of reliable sewerage systems in all of these union councils will be resolved
