Rawalpindi: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has decided to start the cleanliness of Nullah Leh, at the cost of PKR 30 million, next month in a bid to prevent a flood-like situation during the monsoon season, a news source reported on March 5.

As per the details, the caretaker Punjab government has released the required funds and directed the WASA to start dredging work as quickly as passion. The government has set a deadline of June 30 for the authority to complete the cleanliness work. WASA Spokesperson Umer Farooq revealed that the drive will be started in April and will be completed by June.

Reportedly, the WASA spokesperson shared that the agency will spend PKR 30 million for clearing the path of the nullah to ensure a smooth flow of water during monsoon season. He stated that according to reports, this year’s monsoon season will be harsh and obstacles in the path of rainwater flow coming from Islamabad and adjoining nullahs should be cleared. The dredging will improve the flow of water up to 2 feet.
