Rawalpindi: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has launched an operation against defaulters – a news source reported.
The agency launched the operation on the instructions of Chairman Arif Abbasi and MD Raja Shaukat Mahmood. According to details, the defaulters owe WASA approximately PKR 250 million.

As many as four teams have been constituted to recover the dues. WASA has also divided the garrison city into four zones: east, west, PP-12, and PP-13.
Meanwhile, the agency has recovered the amount pending for October-November session. It managed to collect PKR 50.5 million from defaulters. Similarly, a sum of PKR 10.8 million has also been recovered.
The water body has been dealing with a financial crisis lately. This has resulted from the concerned government departments owing millions of rupees to the agency in terms of unpaid water bills.
Sources close to WASA said that 12 federal and 36 provincial departments have yet to pay their dues.
