Hyderabad: Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) has launched a crackdown against its bill defaulters, according to a news source. During its recent drive, the WASA officials raided various hotels, restaurants, service stations and water venders in Qasimabad to identify illegal water connections.

In the first days of its operation launched out on June 13, WASA imposed fine on those find operating an illegal water connection. The authority has also made an official announcement regarding launching a wide scale crackdown against illegal water connections in the city.

The WASA team, which is headed by WASA Qasimabad Commercial deputy manager, raided commercial plazas, high-rise buildings, hotels and restaurants where several owners had installed illegal water connections. In addition to penalizing these owners, WASA also issued notices to bill defaulters in Qasimabad.

According to spokesperson of WASA, a similar operation will be carried out in Latifabad to identify illegal water connections and launch legal proceeding against such people.
