Lahore: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Lahore and Mardan have been selected to get funds worth EUR 7.1 million under European Union (EU)’s Water Operator Partnership programme, a news source quoted WASA MD Syed Zahid Aziz.

According to details, WASA Lahore and Mardan applied for Budapest Water Works through Pakistan Water Operators Network. The two companies were the only entities selected from South Asian Region for this programme. The WASA MD said that it was an honour for the companies to be selected for this programme.
According to MD Zahid, the WASA Lahore and WASA Mardan will be working with Budapest Water Works. Under this initiative, the companies will collaborate for technology awareness, provision of clean water and sanitation, and exchange of experiences.
Through this 3-year programme, WASA Lahore and Mardan will be able to improve its IT system, training, SCADA system, customer service, and other services. MD Zahid Aziz also mentioned that the employees of WASA Mardan and Lahore will get international training opportunities.

Moreover, the EU will provide funds for the Water Operator Partnership and will also help in accomplishing sustainable development goals under Global Water Operators Partnership Alliance.
