Lahore: Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Vice Chairman Sheikh Imtiaz Ahmad and Managing Director Syed Zahid Aziz on Sunday presented a cheque amounting to PKR 4.13 million to Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar for the CM’s Corona Control Fund, according to news sources.

The generation of the said amount was from a joint contribution of WASA’s staff for the prevention of the virus spreading throughout the province. The agency staff donated their salaries for the contribution. Additionally, an official handout revealed that the WASA staff members, ranking up to grade-16, donated one-day salary. While those ranking between grade 17 to 19 donated two days’ salary and officer ranking up to grade 20 donated three days’ salary to generate the donation.

Buzdar commended the civic agency’s gesture and expressed his resolve to ensure that the totality of the funds is spent to assist those affected by the coronavirus – in a transparent manner. He underlined that lending a helping hand in these tough times was a social, national and religious obligation.
Furthermore, WASA’s chairman and managing director briefed Buzdar about the performance of the department. They informed him that upon his directives, the agency has retrieved land of worth PKR 300 million in Shadbagh. In response, the chief minister lauded their efforts.
