Lahore: The Finance Department has issued a package of PKR 549 million to the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Lahore, a news source reported.
According to the issuing department, the funds have been transferred to WASA Lahore to enable it to meet its daily activities’ and development/ non-development expenses. The agency is expected to cover its employee salary expenses from this amount as well.
The grant has been issued on the request forwarded by WASA.

Recently, Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht also asked WASA and other departments to submit their budget estimates for the upcoming fiscal year (FY2019-20).
He was chairing a meeting of the ministerial committee of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA).
On the occasion, WASA Managing Director (MD) Syed Zahid Azi gave briefings on the agency’s revenue and expenditure gap, the status of subsidies, and the agency’s future business plans.
The minister further directed the relevant agency officials to come up with workable financial planning for WASA under the newly proposed Local Government system.
