According to WASA Finance Director Mohsin Jaffrey, the agency faces a monthly funding deficit of approximately PKR 30 million.
As per reports, the agency’s monthly expenditure has exceeded PKR 75 million (salaries and pensions make up PKR 65 million of the expenditures), whereas its revenue stands at a meager PKR 44.4 million.
Jaffery stated that only about 40% of the agency’s consumer base pays their water bills. Owing to these reasons, WASA is unable to fulfil the water requirement (75 million gallons per day) of the city. With its existing capacity, WASA is able to provide about 60 million gallons of water per day.
