Rawalpindi: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) recently formulated what it has termed an ‘effective and practical’ plan to prevent the occurrence of any natural disasters caused by the expected flooding of Nullah Leh during the coming monsoon season, according to news sources.

Managing Director (MD) WASA Raja Shaukat Mehmood issued a statement in this regard. He said that this plan was shaped in response to a warning issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) that has predicted a rain spell lasting from May 29 to June 02.

MD Mehmood said that the work on the desilting of Nullah Leh, sewerage lines, and inspection of WASA machinery was currently underway and is expected to be completed by June 15. The WASA MD further said that the agency’s equipment was in operational condition, including its dewatering set, water bowser, and screw jetting machine. He added that teams had been made in order to work out proposals to meet any and all eventualities during the monsoon season.
