Gujranwala: The number of defaulters of WASA during the current year has crossed 100,000, which is causing financial issues for the agency, a news source reported.
The defaulters include a large number of public and private departments, and individuals including residential consumers. These 100,000 defaulters owe WASA PKR 50 million and a majority has been a defaulter for more than five years.
WASA’s monthly recovery is PKR 2.2 million but just the salaries and utility bills cost it PKR 3.5 million each month resulting in financial crunch each month.
