Lahore: The Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) has disconnected the water supply of 280 service stations and car wash points, a news source reported. Bills of PKR 10,000 have also been sent to the owners of each of the service stations extracting underground water.
Out of the 550 service stations, 280 had been using WASA’s water supply, while the remaining 270 were using motor pumps and underground water.
About 400 gallons of water is used by service stations in washing each vehicle, but WASA aims to limit that to 80 gallons. The service stations were first sent notices and warned to stop washing vehicles. When they didn’t comply, the commercial water connections were cut off.
