Mansehra: The tehsil administration has issued a strict warning for all local hoteliers and other businesses to remove their sewerage lines from River Kunhar and divert them to somewhere else in Balakot and Kaghan valley or face crackdown, as per a news report published on December 24.

Assistant Commissioner Balakot Hamid Khan addressed a meeting of hoteliers, traders and transporters of Balakot, Garhi Habibullah on Wednesday. He said that Kaghan Valley and its gateway Balakot are ‘heavens on earth’ and that efforts should be made to prevent the ongoing environmental degradation.

While stressing the need for removing the sewerage lines from the river, Khan said that ‘an anti-encroachment drive along Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road and in Balakot and Garhi Habibullah’ was also in the works.
He stressed that the tourism industry will flourish only if visitors enjoy hustle-free travelling. He revealed that the administration is considering measures to keep the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road open during winters.
