Islamabad: The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) announced that it has fast-tracked development work on a dozen small and medium to improve clean power generation, water availability and climate resilience in Pakistan, according to a news published on May 13.

As per the official details, these dams serve the dual purpose of rainwater/floodwater strorage and hydropower generation. The details of the dam projects with expediated construction pace are as follows:
Balochistan
- Winder Dam with a power generation capacity of 0.3 megawatts (MWs) and water storage capacity of 0.036 million acre-feet (MAF)
- Naulong Dam with a power generation capacity of 4.4 MW and a water storage capacity of 0.20 MAF
- Hingol Dam with a power generation capacity of 1 MW and a water storage capacity of 1.41 MAF
- Garuk Dam with a power generation capacity of 0.3 MW and a water storage capacity of 0.05 MAF
- Pelar Dam with a power generation capacity of 0.3 MW and a water storage capacity of 0.099 MAF

Sindh
- Nai Gaj Dam with a power generation capacity of 4.2 MW and a water storage capacity of 0.30 MAF
- Darawat Dam with a power generation capacity of 0.45 MW and a water storage capacity of 0.12 MAF
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
- Kurram Tangi Dam with a power generation capacity of 83.4 MW and a water storage capacity of 1.2 MAF
- Tank Zam Dam with a power generation capacity of 25.5 MW and a water storage capacity of 0.345 MAF
- Daraban Zam Dam with a power generation capacity of 0.75 MW and a water storage capacity of 0.069 MAF
Punjab
- Ghabir Dam with a power generation capacity of 0.15 MW and a water storage capacity of 0.066 MAF
- Papin Dam with a power generation capacity of 0.3 MW and a water storage capacity of 0.089 MAF
