Mansehra: Chairman Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Muzzamil Hussain has directed the district administration and the construction firms involved in the development of the World Bank (WB)-funded, 4,300-megawatt (MW) Dasu Hydropower project, to ensure its completion ahead of its scheduled launch in 2025, according to news sources.

The chairman gave these orders during a meeting, during which he also directed the district administration to ensure that the 10,000 acres of land acquired for this mega energy project are handed over to the firms involved in its development immediately. He added that the venture should be completed at an earlier date for the convenience of the general public.

Chairman Hussain further stated that a comprehensive strategy was required in order to properly execute the Dasu Hydropower project in a timely manner. In addition, he revealed that the WB had granted a fund of USD 573 million for this project and that the government planned on developing roads, health and educational infrastructure in the area as well.
Reportedly, the provincial government is expected to collaborate on many of these infrastructural projects and will also be ultimately responsible for their future operations.
