Lahore: Water and Power Development Authority (WPDA) Chairman Lt General (retd) Muzammil Hussain recently revealed that the authority will construct the Rohtas Dam to control and store flood water — a news source reported on October 22. The chairman made these comments during a meeting that was also attended by other senior officials of WAPDA.

The WAPDA Chairman further stated that like other water reservoirs in the country, the Rohtas Dam was going to protect the country against excessive flooding and would allow for the irrigation of larger tracts of land. He further instructed the officials concerned to take care of conducting all the relevant studies and other matters on priority.

Additionally, while discussing various water related projects in the country, Hussain stated that there were a number of such projects that were currently under development. These include the Mohmand Dam, the Diamer Bhasha Dam, the Karam Tangi Dam and the Dasu Hydropower Project.
