Islamabad: Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has completed one of the world’s highest and most difficult transmission line projects connecting transmission lines in Golen Gol in Chitral to Timergara in Lower Dir, reported a news source. As many as 706 towers were installed for evacuation of power generated by Golen Gol Hydro Project to the national grid station.
The 180-kilometre long Golen Gol-Timergara transmission line pass through mountainous terrain having extreme weather conditions. For this purpose, 706 transmission towers, were erected in the snow clad mountains. These mountains also include Lowari Top that is located at a height of 10,312 feet.
The project is so far the most difficult one in Pakistan where the transmission towers at such high altitude had never been erected before.
