Lahore: Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has awarded the contract for construction of infrastructure and project colony of Dasu Hydropower project, a news source reported. The contract worth PKR 4.9 billion has been awarded to Chinese company China Gansu International Corporation for Economic and Technical Cooperation (CGICOP).
WAPDA General Manager and Dasu Hydropower Project Director Javed Akhtar and CGICOP Principal Officer Guan Wei signed the contract in the presence of representatives from both sides.
According to the contract, the infrastructure and colony will include road networks, water supply, boundary wall and security towers and the contract has to be completed in two years.
Dasu Hydropower Project will be completed in two phases. For the first phase of the project, World Bank is providing part of the funds and it will be completed in five years and will provide 12 billion units of cheap hydel electricity annually.
