Lahore: The Walton Road Upgradation Project, spearheaded by the Punjab Central Business District Development Authority (PCBDDA), also known as CBD Punjab, is nearing completion, bringing long-awaited improvements to one of Lahore’s busiest corridors.
The project focuses on modernizing infrastructure, enhancing urban aesthetics, and improving traffic flow. Key upgrades include the rehabilitation of the main carriageway, the development of green belts, and extensive horticulture work. These improvements aim to ensure better drainage, reduced congestion, and a cleaner, healthier environment for Walton residents.

For years, residents of Walton struggled with poor road conditions and inadequate drainage. The presence of the ADA Nullah caused foul odors, unsanitary conditions, and even damage to household electronics. CBD Punjab’s initiative to remove the drain and replace it with landscaped green belts has significantly improved public health and environmental conditions.
Additionally, a new sewage system has been installed, effectively preventing water accumulation even after heavy rains. Residents have welcomed these upgrades, noting that issues persisting for over 30 years are finally being addressed.

The Walton Road Upgradation Project aligns with CBD Punjab’s vision of sustainable urban development. The inclusion of tree plantations and green belts not only enhances aesthetics but also helps reduce pollution, improve air quality, and mitigate the urban heat effect.
Imran Amin, CEO of CBD Punjab, highlighted the significance of the project, stating that the Walton Road Upgradation Project reflects CBD’s commitment to modernizing Lahore’s infrastructure while ensuring environmental sustainability. “By addressing decades-old issues, improving traffic flow, and enhancing the urban environment with green spaces, we are striving to improve the quality of life for residents”, he added.
The primary construction work is nearing completion, with the service lanes’ water-bound base already prepared. Further plantation efforts are ongoing to ensure long-term sustainability.
