Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Mohsin Naqvi announced a pivotal initiative, the Walton Road upgrade and re-modelling project, underscoring its significance in addressing transportation challenges, a news source reported on November 23.

According to the details, the CM underscored the magnitude of the development during a media briefing following his inspection of the ongoing progress on Walton Road. His inspection included ADA drain re-modelling, Cavalry Underpass, and the Centerpoint to Walton Road CBD Punjab Quaid District projects. While shedding light on its significance, it was revealed that the ambitious endeavour spans six locations, and boasts a budget exceeding PKR 9 billion.
CM Naqvi informed that a flyover will be constructed at Cheil Chowk to enhance traffic flow. He went on to say that the said road project from Centerpoint to Walton Road has a deadline of December 31 for completion. Once the project is constructed, the journey from Main Boulevard Gulberg to Walton will be reduced to only three minutes.
During his visit to the CenterPoint to Walton Road project, the CM set a deadline for completing asphalt work within the first 10 days of December. Expressing contentment with sewage water drainage on Walton Road, he directed officials to ensure traffic flow and expedite project completion.

The CM Revealed that the Cavalry underpass is expected to be completed in the next four days, and the Ghora Chowk flyover is projected to be finished by December 7. Simultaneously, work on the Lahore Ring Road’s southern loop-3 and Bund Road (controlled access) projects is progressing day and night, with a January deadline. Furthermore, Naqvi revealed that the Gujranwala Expressway is set to be completed in January.
