Lahore: Lahore Divisional Commissioner Zaid bin Maqsood visited the Walton Road construction site to assess progress on the upgradation project. During the visit, he chaired a meeting attended by CEO CBD Imran Ameen, DC Lahore Syed Musa Raza, CEO Walton, and officials from PHA, LESCO, WASA, and the Traffic Police.
Officials from CBD and NESPAK briefed the meeting on the latest developments, confirming that 80% of the Walton Road upgradation work has been completed. The main road is now fully prepared, with asphalt being laid at a daily rate of 1,100 tons. Streetlight poles are being installed at a rapid pace, and 1,500 meters of cable is being placed daily as part of the electrical works. Work on the green belts is also in progress.

Additionally, the meeting was informed that 4.2 kilometers of trunk sewer lines have been completed, replacing the outdated drainage system. The Major Ishaq Shaheed Flyover, spanning 510 meters, is now operational, easing traffic congestion on Walton Road.
Commissioner Zaid bin Maqsood directed TEPA and the CBD team to finalize lane markings and road signage. He also instructed NESPAK, the Traffic Police, and TEPA to conduct a joint visit to redesign U-turns for improved traffic flow. Furthermore, PHA was asked to increase manpower for horticulture work on the road medians.
Highlighting the importance of Walton Road as a key route connecting Ferozepur Road to Defence, the Commissioner stressed the need for timely completion of the remaining work. He emphasized that the project, once fully operational, will significantly improve traffic flow and benefit daily commuters.
