A central focus of the signal-free Walton Road project is the comprehensive revamping of the Airport Drainage Authority (ADA) drain, running parallel to the road. Over the years, the drain has become a source of pollution and flooding, particularly during the rainy season. Originally designed to manage 80 cusecs of rainwater, it has been compromised by sewage water from various localities, impacting areas such as Askari, Bedian, Cavalry Ground, Walton, and Falcon Colony.
The project, according to CBD Executive Director Technical Riaz Hussain, entails separating sewerage lines from the ADA drain and doubling its capacity to 160 cusecs, sufficient for the next 50 years. The ADA drain will be covered with concrete slabs, with a greenbelt developed on top, enhancing the road’s aesthetic appeal.

The plan includes three pedestrian underpasses, two overhead crossings, and three elevated U-turns to facilitate both pedestrian and vehicular movement.
