Lahore: As many as 246 commercial buildings in high-end areas have been found to have breached building bylaws, reported a news source. A report sharing details on these projects has been sent to Lahore Mayor and Deputy Commissioner by the Traffic Police.
According to the approved maps for these buildings, the basement was to be used as parking place, while the building operators have instead set up shops. Due to the absence of parking space, vehicles are being parked at the road side which causes traffic issues.
The 246 buildings where building bylaws were ignore are located in Johar Town, Main Boulevard Gulberg, MM Alam Road, and other prime housing projects in the city. The authorities concerned have decided to carry out legal actions against these buildings in the light of report shared by the Traffic Police.
Earlier, the Lahore Development Authority conducted a survey to obtain data of 6,400 buildings in the city to form its new commercialisation policy. The planned action against the building breaching building bylaws appears to be part of the new policy. It is also important to mention here that the development authority will no longer allow annual commercialisation of residential property.
