Islamabad: An Uzbek delegation met Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan and shared plans with him pertaining to the establishment of an international railway corridor that would connect Pakistan and Uzbekistan via Afghanistan, a news source reported.

Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Elyor Ganiev led the delegation. The Uzbek deputy ministers for investment, international trade, and transport were all present at the occasion.
The visiting dignitaries gave briefings on the proposed transport railway corridor—Uzbekistan-Mazar-e-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar.
In response, the PM said that the project would benefit Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Central Asian Republics, as well as China and Europe. He also stressed on the need for promoting political, economic, energy and cultural ties with Uzbekistan.

Previously, the Uzbek delegation held separate meetings with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa to discuss connectivity and regional security.
