Quetta: Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Ali Sher, has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening trade relations with Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan, and expressed keen interest in investment opportunities in the province’s mining and agriculture sectors.
During a meeting with a delegation from the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) in Islamabad, led by QCCI President Haji Muhammad Ayub Mariani and Senior Vice President Haji Akhtar Kakar, the ambassador highlighted Uzbekistan’s eagerness to collaborate in key sectors of Balochistan’s economy.

The Uzbek envoy extended an invitation to Balochistan’s business community to attend an exhibition featuring Uzbek products, set to take place in Lahore later this month. He also invited a trade delegation from Balochistan to visit Uzbekistan after Eidul Fitr to explore further investment and business opportunities.
The QCCI representatives welcomed the proposal and stressed the need for enhancing bilateral trade, particularly through exchanges in the mining sector, where Uzbekistan’s expertise in modern techniques could benefit Balochistan. They also highlighted the province’s potential in agriculture and livestock, calling for stronger cooperation in these fields.

Currently, Pakistan’s exports to Uzbekistan stand at approximately $150 million, while imports from Uzbekistan range between $300 million and $350 million. Both sides emphasized the need to increase trade volumes to capitalize on emerging opportunities.
The QCCI delegation confirmed their participation in the upcoming Lahore exhibition and their visit to Uzbekistan, where they will engage with business leaders in Tashkent and visit key economic hubs, including Samarkand, Bukhara, and Termez.
