Lahore: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General (DG) Sumair Ahmad Syed has directed the officials concerned to utilise all available resources for making the Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT) project functional without further delays, a news source reported. He further instructed all the contractors to complete the development work of the OLMT project before its scheduled commercial launch.

Earlier this month, Punjab Minister for Transport Muhammad Jehanzaib Khan Khichi had inaugurated OLMT’s trial run. Currently, the project’s finishing works are under process apart from testing and systems’ synchronisation – aimed at making the project safe and efficient.
The Chinese engineers working on the project’s testing and commissioning had sought a completion time frame of three months. The metro train is expected to become functional by March 2020.

OLMT will be the first line of the Lahore Metro – Pakistan’s first mass rapid transit train system. Following its completion, the project will connect Raiwind, Multan Road, McLeod Road, Lahore Junction Railway Station, and Grand Trunk Road.
