It was specified that EPD has set up six fixed air monitors in Lahore, two in Multan, and two in Gujranwala. The EPD officials maintained that burning of crop residue, vehicle and industrial emissions, open burning of waste, fugitive dust emissions, and uncollected solid waste, are a few of the biggest reasons for air pollution.
Kiln owners are being trained by experts from Nepal to adopt zigzag technology, and discard traditional kilns to protect the environment. The government is holding talks with industrialists and brick kiln associations, and has made smog committees to better counter the upcoming smog season by the end of October.
