Responding to a call-attention notice during a National Assembly (NA) session held on Tuesday, Ayub stated that authorities concerned planned to generate 8,000 Megawatts (MWs) of electricity through solar and wind energy projects by 2025. He added that consumers would have this electricity available for less than PKR 6.5 per unit.
He revealed that the government was formulating a policy framework for the generation of 70% to 80% of energy from domestic resources; which would help the executive in its efforts to provide electricity to the general public at affordable rates.
The minister told the NA session that the government had devised an equitable distribution system of the resources, including energy, for all parts of the country. He added that the executive had allocated PKR 54 billion in the national budget to offer relief to consumers utilising less than 300 units of electricity on a monthly basis.

The call-attention notice was served over reports pertaining to the inclusion of fuel surcharge in electricity bills from the Malakand region. The locals had complained about the addition despite the production of electricity from four local power houses.
