Quetta: The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the provincial Livestock and Dairy Development Department recently finalised an agreement to launch the ‘Pakistan Agricultural Technology Transfer Activity (PATTA)’ initiative in order to boost livestock productivity in the province, a news source reported.
Livestock and Dairy Development Secretary Dostain Jamaldini and USAID Representative in Pakistan Dr Fahim Abbasi were present at the occasion.

The project’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlines that the USAID would carry out the project worth $8.2 million over a period of four years in order to equip small farmers with innovative technologies and methods; aimed at enhancing livestock productivity.
As per reports, the programme would enhance economic security of farmers, in addition to improving their quality of life. Further, it would enhance livestock production through the provision of management methods training, supply of various production inputs such as feed supplements and de-worming medication on a cost-sharing method.
