Islamabad: United States (US) Ambassador to Pakistan Paul Jones recently announced the American government’s decision to contribute additional aid worth USD 7.5 billion to Pakistan for facilitating its COVID-19 relief measures, a news source reported.

As per the publication, the US government would donate USD 5 million to assist Pakistan’s Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program and USD 2.5 million to the therapeutic food program – which diagnoses children with acute malnutrition. The ambassador said that the US was expanding its partnership with Pakistan to relieve those have become vulnerable due to the prevailing coronavirus-imposed crisis in the country.

Moreover, the US designated Pakistan earlier as a priority country for COVID-19 assistance and committed a total sum of USD 15 million in aid for Pakistani relief measures. Jones said that America has sent their support and sympathy for those hard-hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Previously, the World Health Organization (WHO) had announced that Pakistan would receive £2.67 million provided by the United Kingdom (UK) to help the country’s combat against the impacts of the coronavirus infection.
