Skardu: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan today (December 16) inaugurated the upgraded Skardu International Airport and Jaglot-Skardu road to promote tourism in the region, according to news sources.

As per the details, the Skardu International Airport is among the world’s highest altitude airports located 7,000 feet high, which has been upgraded to an international level. The main runway of the airport is 12,000 feet long while the secondary one is 8,500-feet long. PM Khan, while speaking at the event, stated that both international and national tourists will visit the region due to enhanced connectivity. He went on to say that direct flights help boost tourism.
Moreover, the development of the road and airport will bring employment opportunities for the locals. The minister also mentioned that Gilgit-Baltistan has the world’s beautiful mountains. He added that people were not aware of the region’s beauty because it was difficult to access.

According to details, the Jaglot-Skardu road was upgraded, constructed, and widened to provide better connectivity and a smooth flow of traffic on the road.
