The recent announcement made by the Lahore Ring Road Authority (LRRA)’s land acquisition collector about the Lahore Ring Road (LRR) route cutting through Bahria Town has spurred confusion amongst investors and homeowners.
Well, we have some timely updates to share with you. The collector returned to Bahria Town on Friday and reiterated that the development of the LRR would continue as planned. During the meeting, someone mentioned that Bahria Town had taken stay against the move, but the collector said he did not receive any written notice regarding this.
The collector emphasised that the proposed LRR plan will do minimum damage to the housing societies along the route. He added that out of 100 kilometres, 47 kilometres of the LRR have been completed so far.
‘United we stand’
In response to this, investors and homeowners set up a committee to stand united against all odds. The committee met the Bahria Town management today to get the developer’s view on the issue and demanded the management give a written guarantee of proper compensation.
The management failed to provide written surety in this regard and asked for some time, specifically two weeks, claiming that Malik Riaz is not in the country at the moment.
Amjad Bhatti, a Bahria Town official, told the committee that affectees will be given a plot for a plot and a house for a house forfeited, but the committee was not pacified without written confirmation and now wants to meet Malik Riaz. The group will submit an application tomorrow to let the management know of its demands.
I have also learned that there is no sale-purchase activity in the locality and investors are really worried about their respective stakes. Now that affectees have bucked up against the odds, their unity may push Bahria Town to make some solid moves. Otherwise, Bahria Town will lose its trust and people will hesitate to invest in the locality.
This was a brief update on the issue. I am keenly following this saga as it unfolds to keep you all updated about any developments in a timely manner. Needless to say, I understand your concerns and wish all affecteess the very best of luck.
If you would like to add to the information I have provided, please feel free to do so in the comments section below.
Today (25 January) was hearing of stay order case I. Lahore high court. Does anyone has update anout what happened in court?
“47 kilometres of the LRR have been completed so far.”
What? I mean, how and where? Is the Sui Gas to Gajju Matta package being constructed? I mean, what does this statement mean, kindly elaborate Mr. Zain.
He is talking about Northern Section.
Oh thanks for the information. Pretty irrelevant on part of Land Collector to mention this obvious fact here though.
/Zain, do you have any information for Jinnah Block. Is it safe .. in bahria town ??
As far as I know the land acquisition law does not have a room for stay orders and it is mandatory for courts to stay away except where compensation, in the eyes of the owner / owners, is inadequate. Even afterwards the government’s decision is final and executable.
If provincial government is adamant on keeping the route same, then no one can obstruct.. Bahria town must simply compensate the affectees to maintain it’s reputation. But, I am doubtful because of their history of being indifferent towards their investors / property owners.
Please share update about start of southern loop construction plan.
thanks
Good write up by author and contributors
thanks Zain for update on bahria town.
what are the prospects of sector F. Can you kindly update the readers on that.
appreciate your input
In non of the case, Bahria stand to loose, not even inch of its reputition!
People who baught land in the locality marked for LRR-SL, did so at their own risk.
Land was owned by Bahria, so they did nothign wrong by offering it for sale.
By law, govt. is authorized to aquire land, once they have a plan / project of larger public/ state interest.
Bahria employees, may have their personal interests in those protests, as they are as corrupt as any criminal.
Since the Bahria employees knows they can influence M.Riaz for compensation and eventually profit out of the situation.
As an eventual outcome, i only see Bahria gaining both in terms of value and reputition.
I hope most of the public sees the same simple logic.
However, i wonder from where does Mr. Editor’s doubts eminate.
Best Regards.

Dear Zain, Your posts are always helping. I ‘ m a permanent reader of your blogs. The said Ring Road will be on bridge OR on road level. If it will be on ground level some feet high, there will be security issues.
Waiting your kind reply on it.

thanks and appreciate your efforts
it’s passing through EE block and Overseas Extension but not Sector D
Thanks for the update.
Dear Folks. I believe it is political and personal issues as far as I have learnt from the market and resources. Someone powerful is insisting that the LRR have to and will pass through BT, Lahore and after so many years of waiting, in other word, black mailing, the final decision is out. I was having a plot in Fazaia Housing which I disposed off last year. Understanding and knowing the Pakistani culture and peoples behavior if the RR is passing through the society, I believe the worth and value of the society will be affected very badly, I do not understand some people are saying that the locality will benefit, Anyhow let us wait and see. This part of the LRR will be very busy, and almost in use day and night since most of the traffic from Multan Road and cities from this side will use this section of the LRR to reach Airport and Ferozpur Road and this side part of the Lahore City. As far as I know the LRR is passing through the middle of the society. Malik Riaz has offered to build a elevated LRR within the society land but the powerful persons has refused. The commercial area of the society is also affected.
I hope and pray for the investment of people like me whom has invested hard earned money of the life.
On the other hand, Bahria is not going to compensate rather than promising for long period of time and this is this culture. Bahria Rawalpindi, Bahria Lahore is not fully and 100 completed.
Dear Syed Zaman sb,
there is no proof , written letter/document or BT official statement that BT is ready to construct alternative route or elevated RR to safe BTL. It is just fake news/rumors and peoples are spreading this. It may be wishful thinking or BT intentionally spreading this news by their agents.
Zahid Rashid.
