Karachi: The Incharge Programme of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)’s Karachi Chapter Mahenau Agha has volunteered to modernise the Karachi Safari Park and other various development projects in the city, news sources reported.

Ms Agha said this in a meeting with the Administrator Karachi Laeeq Ahmed after she visited Safari Park. She expressed her concern at the lack of availability of Karachi City’s Largest Safari Park. She asserted that the Safari Park lacks proper confinement and food facilities for animals, and entertainment facilities for visitors.
Moreover, During the discussion, she offered Mr Laeeq financial and technical assistance in various other development programmes. Ms Agha Specifically showed her interest in the development projects related to the modernisation of the Safari Park and Bagh Ibne-Qasam in Clifton.

Furthermore, she stated that the way Safari Park has been built leaves a lot of room for development and that it can only be described as an average park in its current condition.
Mr Laeeq stated that discussions with the private sector have taken place, and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between Karachi City Administration and UNDP Resident Representative Knut Ostby for the improvement of park and Bag Ibne Qasam.
It is important to know that the Safari Park was founded in 1970 and covers an area of 148 acres. The Park has a zoo for the entertainment of visitors.
