Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will launch waste segregation and waste recycling project in the capital, according to news published on Thursday (November 25).

Initially, the project will be launched in Margalla Retreat, Sector I-8, Sector E-7, and Park Enclave as pilot projects for three months. As per the details shared about the project, the waste will be divided into two categories from the source point. The segregated waste will be used once it is recycled.
Reportedly, the UNDP will provide shopping bags of two colours in all the houses in the above-mentioned sectors for three months. This will help to separate dry and other garbage at the source point. The sanitation department will be provided with six vehicles under the initiative.

According to details shared by the CDA, dry waste will be recycled by the UNDP to make park furniture, dustbins, and other items while the kitchen waste will be disposed of. If the experiment is successful, the project will be expanded to other sectors of the city.
