Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar recently approved the preliminary plans for the construction of an underpass at the Khalid Butt Chowk and the development of a one-way flyover at Ghora Chowk in Cavalry, a news source reported. These developments will make the road linking Centre Point (Gulberg) with the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Lahore a signal-free corridor.

As per the information available, the project is expected to cost PKR 2.7 billion and will help in the process to make the entire Gulberg area signal-free. The preliminary planning for the proposal put forward by the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) will be conducted by the National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK).
The news source revealed that in order to make Gulberg signal-free and provide quick access to DHA, Cantt and Cavalry via Gulberg, Khalid Butt Chowk will have 4-lane wide dual carriageway and a two-way underpass. At Ghora Chowk in Cavalry, a 3-lane wide one-way overhead bridge will be constructed to link cavalry with the DHA.

The project also includes the remodeling of Defence Morr and Walton Road. Reportedly, the project will benefit 150,000 motorists on a daily basis.
