Gujranwala: Due to the contamination of underground water and shutdown of 30 water filtration plants, the city is facing a shortage of water – a news source reported.
Reportedly, the water has been contaminated due to the waste water being dumped underground. A number of harmful chemicals and minerals have been found in the water.

According to sources, a number of factories do not have their own disposal system, so they dump the water into normal sewerage water which has been seeping underground. The water is also causing stomach, liver, and skin issues to the humans using it.
30 water filtration plants have also been shut down within city because lack of maintenance which is estimated to cost PKR 2.6 million.
Reportedly, the residents of Gujranwala appealed the authorities including the current mayor, Commissioner Gujranwala, and MD WASA to help resolve the state of affairs.
