Karachi: The Sindh government has issued instructions for all under-construction buildings to display QR codes on the premises to enable the public to check the legal status of the building using smartphones, according to news published on May 25.

Sindh Chief Secretary Dr Muhammad Sohail Rajput chaired a meeting in which it was decided to place QR codes at the front of the under-construction buildings for the convenience of the people. It will enable everyone to know the legal status of the buildings through mobile phones. The meeting also decided to take action against the illegal building, encroached government lands, and water theft in the city.

The meeting attendees were informed about the illegal occupation of the lands of the Lyari Development Authority (LDA), Karachi Development Authority (KDA), and Malir Development Authority (MDA). During the meeting, it was decided to take strict action against the encroachments on the state-owned land. The authorities were asked to submit reports on encroachment on their lands by Friday. After that, the authorities will devise an anti-encroachment plan to curb the practice. According to Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, a comprehensive plan will be formed and geo-tagging of the lands will be done as well.
