Peshawar: The Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) has warned the local government against illegal excavation on newly constructed roads, according to a news report. The PDA has written to the Local Government Department secretary and asked them to inform all Town Municipal Administrations (TMAs) to stop issuing No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for road excavation projects.
This letter has come after Rampura-Hashtnagri road was excavated. Another road was upended with consultation from TMA of Town-1, causing serious concerns for PDA. The PDA has said that these excavations also affect the water and gas pipelines, along with telephone and internet cables. Several main roads along Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) have also been simultaneously excavated, leading to traffic congestion in the city.
