Rawalpindi: Chairman Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Muhammad Arif Abassi has barred illegal and under-process housing societies from marketing, buying, and selling their projects, a press release stated. The order has been issued under the rules of the Section Punjab Private Housing Scheme and Land Sub-division Act, 2010.

He also warned the general public to consult RDA’s website before buying plots. From this platform, people can retrieve information about registered housing societies. He gave these directions in his meetings with civilians presenting complains against illegal housing societies at his office.

RDA has stressed that the public should avoid investing in housing schemes that it has identified as being illegal. Before buying any plot, people should log on to www.rda.gop.pk to learn its details in full. RDA officials stated that the agency will not take responsibility for any financial losses incurred; should the public fail to do this.
State action and demolition of offices will follow if illegal and under-process housing schemes fail to comply with RDA orders.
