Quetta: A United Nations (UN) mission team has offered all possible assistance to the Balochistan government to tackle drought-like situation in 20 districts of the province.
A meeting to this effect took place between the UN delegation, headed by Werna, and Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan. Provincial ministers Zahoor Buledi, Mir Ziaullah Langove, and Mir Naseebullah Marri were all present at the occasion.

The delegation comprised officials from the World Food Programme (WFP), the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund, World Health Organisation (WHO), United Nations Population Fund, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Food and Agriculture Organisation, and SPARCO Pakistan.
The two sides discussed measures to minimise the effects of drought in Balochistan. They also deliberated on methods to provide immediate relief and assistance to the drought affectees.

Pakistan Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan Wing Director General Imran Zarkoon gave briefings on the drought situation in the province.
The participants decided to launch short-term, mid-term and long-term programmes in collaboration with UN and its sub-organisations and donor agencies to benefit Balochstan.
