Islamabad: The Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar has directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to draft a comprehensive report reviewing the rehabilitation, operation and maintenance facets of Islamabad’s water supply system – a news source reported.

The minister was chairing a review meeting on water supply projects to Islamabad and Rawalpindi from Khanpur Dam. The meeting was briefed on various measures taken to resolve the issues of water supply to the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on CDA Affairs Ali Nawaz Awan informed the minister that steps have been taken to enhance the water supply to the twin cities through Khanpur Dam. He also revealed that work is being done for an interdepartmental agreement to facilitate regular maintenance of water channels that run through the territories of Punjab and Islamabad Capital Territory.

Additionally, the meeting was also informed that CDA is in the process of hiring consultants for its water supply project from Ghazi Barotha.
