Karachi: United Kingdom (UK)-listed Oracle Power Public Ltd will build Pakistan’s first Hydrogen fuel production plant in Sindh with an installed capacity of generating 15,000 kg fuel per day, news sources reported.

In this regard, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Oracle Power Public Ltd Naheed Memon and Power China International Chief Representative Yang Jianduo in Karachi on Saturday (October 23). Under the said agreement, Oracle Power in collaboration with Power China International will build a Hydrogen fuel production plan running on 400 megawatts (MW) wind and solar power. The Hydrogen produced will be used in various industries with a net-zero carbon footprint. The project is one of the 350 Hydrogen fuel production units around the world and the first in Pakistan that will fulfil the need of the industry.

Moreover, Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh said that the initiative is part of the government’s plan to produce as much as 50,000 MW of electricity from green sources including wind and solar energy that will be cheaper and will also fulfil the energy needs of the growing industry in the country. The development is important for Pakistan because it has happened just before the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties which is scheduled to start on October 31.
