Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has been informed that Union Councils (UCs) will be part of future development schemes in their respective areas, according to a news source.
This announcement was made in a hearing related to the role of local government representatives in development schemes in the capital.
IHC Chief Justice Athar Minaullah heard the petition and dismissed it after getting the relevant assurances. This hearing was done in reference to the provisions of Local Government Act 2015, which contends that exclusive powers to execute and maintain water supply systems in the UCs are vested in elected representatives.
