Karachi: The United Bank Limited (UBL) has become the digital partner of the Karachi Green Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service to provide a cashless experience to the commuters, according to a news story published on Thursday (February 17).

As per the details, the bus stations will be powered by UBL’s android POS (Point of Sale) terminals. It will be integrated with the ticketing system to offer a seamless experience for the commuters. Under this initiative, the bank’s internet payment gateway will allow BRT users to buy tickets online using their debit or credit cards.
Moreover, the bank has entered an exclusive cash management mandate with Sindh Infrastructure Development Co. Ltd. (SIDCL) to collect cash from all the stations and ticketing vending machines. The ceremony was held at UBL’s head office in Karachi.

It is pertinent to note that UBL won the mandate through a formal bidding process in November 2021, and the formal agreement to this effect was signed in February 2022. SIDCL was entrusted with the task to improve the quality of the mass transit system in the city.
