Taxila: The Excise and Taxation (E&T) Department recently brought the towns of Ghorghushti and Jand in Attock under the property tax net, a news source reported. Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO) Jahanzeb Khan made an announcement to this effect during a press briefing held on Tuesday. The residents of these two towns will be liable to pay property tax from the current fiscal year onwards.

The ETO Attock encouraged people to come forward with any complaints they had pertaining to the workings of the department, especially about property tax. He said the people should approach him with their problems, which would be addressed on a priority basis. He added that strict action would be taken against any officers found misusing his authority.

Additionally, Khan stated that the last date for submitting motor vehicle and property taxes had been extended till August 31. He encouraged people to avail the opportunity. He said that due to departmental problems 3,000 number plates could not be issued, but arrangements were underway to issue some of them in the coming months.
