Sahiwal: The Punjab government has approved two road projects for Sahiwal to be developed at a cost of PKR 12 billion, according to a news story published on April 10.
Reportedly, a new expressway is to be developed with PKR 9 billion to link Sahiwal with Sumandari at Lahore-Multan Motorway. The other project involves the rehabilitation of the Sahiwal-Lahore section of GT Road with PKR 3 billion.
As per the National Highway Authority (NHA) General Manager (North Punjab) Iftikhar Muhammad Sajid, the carpeting work will be executed in several phases and will be completed by June 2022. During the first phase, PKR 140 million will be spent on carpeting of the Sahiwal bypass. He also revealed that the 15-kilometre road from Thokar Niaz Beg to Mohlanwal in Lahore will also be completed by the month’s end.
