Rawalpindi: Two new towns have been established in the Rawalpindi district due to the delimitation process for local government elections, according to a news source. These towns have been named Dhamial and Daultala, and have been formed by bifurcating the now defunct Potohar Town.

In addition, Murree’s status has been changed from a municipal corporation to a municipal committee. The list of all seven tehsils in Rawalpindi district has been displayed at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office after their limits were redefined. The tehsils are; Rawalpindi, Murree, Kahuta, Taxila, Gujar Khan, Kallar Syedan, and Kotli Sattian.

The authorities are conducting this delimitation process in order to hold local government elections, in line with the Local Government Act 2019. The Punjab government requested all 36 districts in the province to carry out this delimitation. Initially, the revenue officials had prepared proposals for the delimitation process, and then completed the work on the union council demarcation.
