BAHAWALPUR: Two e-Rozgaar centres have been established at the Islamia University and the Govt Sadiq College for Women in Bahawalpur under the auspices of the government’s ‘eRozgaar Program’, a joint project of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Youth Affairs, Sports, Archaeology & Tourism (YASAT), according to news sources. The venture was debuted in a ‘Digital Bahawalpur Ceremony’ held on Thursday.

The ceremony was attended by Minister Food Punjab Sami Ullah Chaudhary, Vice Chancellor IUB Dr. Athar Mehboob, DG e- Governance Sajid Latif, and other leading officials from the Punjab Information Technology Board.

Speaking at the event, the food minister highlighted his jubilation at witnessing 16,000 trained project candidates from across Punjab, 52% of who are women. He further underscored the significance of women empowerment and the key role played by the e-Rozgaar program in advancing it in the country.

He remarked that with the program’s emphasis on facilitating financial independence for women and in equipping them with the necessary skillset for this, the project ensures their monetary liberation.
Furthermore, he praised the efforts of the e-Rozgaar Team and the PITB for establishing futuristic facilities in South Punjab.

Following suit, Director General e-Governance PITB Sajid Latif lauded the work of the IUB (university) management and the e-Rozgaar team in successfully launching the program. He further spoke about the project’s remarkable impact mediated province-wide through its 32 centres, 16,000 trained candidates, and PKR 23 million of foreign exchange pull.
